Senior Citizens Can Earn Up to 8.60% on FD in November 2026: Top Banks Compared
Senior citizens can earn up to 8.60% interest on fixed deposits in November 2026. Compare FD rates offered by Suryoday, Utkarsh, HDFC, ICICI, Kotak Mahindra and other major banks.
Among the banks offering the highest FD interest rates to senior citizens, Suryoday Small Finance Bank is leading with rates of up to 8.60%. Utkarsh Small Finance Bank follows with an interest rate of up to 8.50%.
Among major private sector banks, Kotak Mahindra Bank is offering up to 7.55%, while Axis Bank is offering up to 7.35%. HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank are offering maximum interest rates of 7.20%. Public sector lender Punjab National Bank (PNB) is offering interest of up to 7.10%.
HDFC Bank revised its FD interest rates with effect from November 4, 2026. The bank increased interest rates on deposits across selected tenures by up to 50 basis points (0.50%). ICICI Bank, PNB, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank and some small finance banks have also revised their FD interest rates.
For senior citizens investing Rs 5 lakh in a fixed deposit, an interest rate of 8.60% would generate approximately Rs 43,000 in annual interest. At an interest rate of 7.20%, the same deposit would earn approximately Rs 36,000 annually. This creates a difference of Rs 7,000 in annual interest earnings between the two rates.
The difference becomes more significant for those investing larger amounts. A senior citizen depositing Rs 10 lakh at an interest rate of 8.60% would earn approximately Rs 86,000 in annual interest. At a rate of 7.20%, the annual interest would be around Rs 72,000. Investing in a bank offering the higher rate could therefore generate an additional Rs 14,000 annually.
HDFC Bank is offering senior citizens an interest rate of 7.20% on fixed deposits with tenures ranging from three years and one day to five years. ICICI Bank is also offering 7.20% interest on deposits for the same tenure. This includes the bank's five-year tax-saving fixed deposit.
With small finance banks offering higher interest rates than several major private and public sector lenders, senior citizens can find significant differences in potential FD earnings depending on the bank and deposit tenure. Suryoday Small Finance Bank's maximum rate of 8.60% and Utkarsh Small Finance Bank's 8.50% are among the highest rates highlighted for November 2026.
